We envision the quality of Citizens for a Third Way as absolutely professional. Our contributors will be honest, rational patriots who love America and hate the juvenile political debate that now exists.

Clear-thinking liberals, conservatives, and independents have valid arguments. But most people at this time are not clear-thinking.

The left demonizes oil, business, conservatives, and anyone rational on the global warming issue. The right has adopted the myth of the wisdom of the common man, treating the national economy like a family budget. They hold the world hostage with their ill-conceived mantras of "never raise taxes" and "don't raise the debt ceiling." Independents don't like the bickering and divisive hatreds. They want to solve problems.

Currently, there is nowhere for rational Americans to turn. That's where we come in. We are basically conservative, but do hold some progressive ideals, like supporting a humane social safety net. We are not the bitter utopians of the left. Nor are we the angry zealots of the right. We use common sense, but also the advice of the best experts in the world, right and left, in determining what are America's best choices.
